Hey, Tharuis Lee Guadalupe here. A New York native born, raised, and residing in The Bronx.
What started off as a hobby in my late 20’s soon formed itself into a place of solace, purpose, and passion. The ability to be present in the everyday moments, whether mundane or animated, has been a challenge within itself because the daily life of a New Yorker is both fast paced and self individualized.
In a manner of speaking I, too, was blind to the everyday moments and oddities of the people residing within and visiting this City. That is, until I started taking myself and my work more seriously. Learning to slow down and be more mindful has allowed me to experience these moments with a richness I was not able to previously perceive. It was then that I was able to connect with my work and the people within those moments.
While many creatives define their work by style and titles, I personally find it to feel restrictive and self-limiting. Creating an image has been about what pulls on the heart strings of both joy and suspense.
No limitations. No bias. No single way of doing.
Because everything is photographable depending on how you choose to frame it.
It’s the closest I come to not existing
